Checks at Greek vacationers for Covid-19 in the ports of Piraeus and Rafina

More than 300 tests for Covid-19 were performed by the Medical Association of Athens, in collaboration with health experts of the Attica Region, in the ports of Piraeus and Rafina on Sunday, August 16, in travelers and ship crews, as part of support efforts to reduce spread of the disease.

The fact that many citizens have gone to popular destinations makes these checks necessary. So far, more than 3,000 inspections have been carried out (of which 300 on Sunday) and the goal is to carry out more than 5,000 inspections in total by next Sunday, August 23rd.

More specifically, more than 200 tests were carried out in the port of Piraeus and 100 in Rafina on dozens of incoming travelers as well as port authorities as part of an Attica Region initiative announced last week to raise awareness about preventing the spread of the virus.

In any case, the authorities emphasize the importance of personal responsibility and the observance of hygiene rules, while advising people returning from vacation to choose to work from home, wear masks and avoid contact with people from vulnerable groups.
