Covid-19: More than 990,000 dead worldwide

A major outbreak of the disease has been reported in many countries in the last month, with many thousands more victims of the deadly SARS-CoV-2.

The new coronavirus pandemic has claimed the lives of at least 993,438 people worldwide since the World Health Organization's office in China reported the outbreak of Covid-19 in late December, according to the French Agency for International Development. September 26.

More than 32,622,490 cases have been diagnosed since the onset of the pandemic, of which at least 22,360,200 are thought to have recovered.

On Friday, September 25, 9,050 new deaths and 325,900 new cases were reported worldwide. The countries with the highest number of deaths are Argentina with 3,901 new deaths due to the change in the counting method, India (1,089) and the USA (887).

The United States is the worst-hit country with both 203,782 deaths and 7,033,925 recorded infections, according to Johns Hopkins University.

After the US, the countries most affected are:

Brazil with 140,537 dead and 4,689,613 cases,
India with 93,379 dead (5,903,932 cases),
Mexico with 75,844 dead (720,858 cases) and
Britain with 41,936 dead (423,236 cases).

China (excluding Hong Kong and Macao) has a total of 85,337 cases (15 new between Friday and Saturday) and 4,634 deaths (no new ones).

Latin America and the Caribbean have recorded 338,254 deaths and 9,095,347 cases as of September 26,
Europe 229,335 dead (5,199,762 cases),
the US and Canada 213,075 deaths (7,184,066 cases),
Asia 132,856 deaths (7,762,046 cases),
the Middle East 44,120 dead (1,902,535 cases),
Africa 34,853 deaths (1,447,328 cases) and
Oceania 945 deaths (31,410 cases).
