The General Secretariat for Civil Protection of Greece announced on Thursday, September 10, emergency measures
in the areas of Pella, Pieria, Imathia and Kilkis in Macedonia, with the aim of limiting the further spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The measures were announced taking into account the latest epidemiological data of the four areas, as 70 confirmed cases
of Covid-19 were found in Pella, 15 in Pieria, 8 in Imathia and 2 in Kilkis. The vast majority of cases are connected to food processing plants.
The emergency measures will be valid for a period of 14 days from 6 p.m. on Friday, September 11 until 6 p.m. on Friday, September 25th.
The measures for the four destinations include:
- the mandatory use of a mask both outdoors and indoors.
- the closure of all restaurants and bars from midnight to 7 p.m.
- Prohibition of all events, including parties, open-air festivals, religious processions and open-air markets.
- the prohibition of all forms of public gatherings of more than nine persons in public or private places
- a limit of four people at restaurant or cafe tables (six people are allowed if they are family members).
According to the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, the Greek authorities will carry out additional inspections in the above areas to verify that the measures are being observed.
In addition, the Greek Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias ordered the hospitals of the four areas to be vigilant. The National Organization of Public Health of Greece (EODY) also received instructions for the increase of Covid-19 tests in the Region of Central Macedonia.
