Greece was awarded the prestigious title of the “Best Destination of the Year” for Belgian travelers at the Belgian Travel Awards that took place at the Skyhall in Brussels Airport on November 17.
Known as the Oscars of the Belgian travel industry, the awards are organized by Trav Magazine BeLux, a leading professional tourism magazine in Belgium.
Greece came in first in the “Best Destination of the Year” category following a public vote. Competitor destinations in the same category included countries such as Turkey, Dubai, and Cape Verde.
“With this new distinction, Greece is recognized in Belgium as the most desirable destination for travel, while at the same time, the impressive tourism recovery of the country from the pandemic is rewarded in the heart of Europe,” the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) said in the announcement.
