Most imported Covid-19 cases in Greece come from 5 countries

Based on data presented by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection during the briefing on Covid-19 this week, which covered the period from 1 July to 16 August, ie the period when tourist traffic began in Greece, the largest number Coronavirus cases were detected in travelers from Romania (88), Bulgaria (86), Serbia (80), Albania (63) and Sweden (29), most of whom entered Greece through its land borders.

According to the same data, in the period from July 1 to August 16, 364 people through the country's airports showed a positive for Covid-19, 17 at the ports and 234 through land borders.
In total, during the period under review, a total of 2,592,853 people have entered Greece.

In three regions of the country the most positive cases were identified: in Attica (which includes Athens and Piraeus) with 158 cases in the same period, in Central Macedonia (which includes Thessaloniki and the border points of travelers) with 143 and in South Aegean Region (which includes the popular islands of Rhodes, Mykonos and Santorini) with 77 incidents.

Referring to recent data, the Deputy Minister for Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, stressed that 83% of the confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Greece were domestic due to the loose observance of hygiene measures and only 17% were "imported" by travelers. 

On Wednesday, August 19, according to the National Organization of Public Health of Greece (EODY), 269 cases of Covid-19 were recorded, of which 98 in Attica.
