Personal Protective Equipment is necessary and self-evident for every seafarer

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory for every seaman to avoid accidents in the daily life of the ship.

Every sailor should always make use of his PPE, as we all wear seat belts when entering the car.

The personal safety of the sailor on the ship starts from him and the first step is to "shield" him every time he prepares for work, even if it is a simple inspection of various areas of the ship.

For example, slips, tripsandfalls, and finger injuries are among the most common. The use of non-slip safety shoes and gloves is the basic equipment, which, combined with attention to movement and the way they work, effectively protect the sailor.

PPE: A critical factor to seafarer's safety onboard - SAFETY4SEA

Personal Protective Equipment includes a helmet, safety shoes, gloves, and goggles of various kinds. Safety goggles should be worn by the sailor as much as possible because an eye injury can end a sailor's career in seconds.

It is important that the equipment fits properly. For example, the helmet should not be wide or the sleeves of the uniform should not be too long or wide, because they can be caught on the machines.

It is also important to ensure consistently good quality in all types of Personal Protective Equipment, based on high standards.
