Crossworld 20th anniversary Celebration

Crossworld celebrated the 20th anniversary of its establishment with a cocktail soiree on Friday 31/05 at Lake Vouliagmeni.

The soiree was a friendly gathering of the Crew Management and Manning group’s older and newer partners, staff, and friends celebrating the company’s steadfast commitment to managing solid and sustainable crew pools for its clients.

The event formally started with the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy cadets’ “entrance of Colors baring the Greek flag for the National Anthem. 

Guests were then reminded of Capt. Leonidas Varias’ motivations behind the foundation of Crossworld, thus highlighting the company’s vision and philosophy. Capt Leonidas Varias, who started the Chios Maritime group 45 years ago thanked partners and colleagues for their dedication and unwavering commitment which led to the success of Crossworld till today. He also wishes the company to continue in the same way, to pass on the knowledge and experience to its young people and achieve its goals with cooperation and trust.

Captain Leonidas then gave the floor to Mr. Simos Varias, who currently helms the group as CEO. 

On his part, Mr. Simos Varias’ address to the guests celebrated the commitment, dedication, and hard work of the colleagues and partners behind the development of what he qualified as the software of shipping: the seafarers. In Mr. Varias’ words, "All of us are part of the shipping ecosystem.  Shipping companies provide the "hardware" i.e. the ships. We invest in people to program, develop and update the software of shipping, the seafarers”. Mr. Varias, concluded, “What we do has shaped who we are. It’s our DNA. Our people are our DNA”.

Finally, Crossworld and Captain Leonidas Varias proceeded to award the partnership in excellence of the company’s oldest associated client companies. Awards were namely given to Capt. George Gabriel (Golden Union Shipping), Captain Michael Fotinos (Diana Shipping), and of course the successors of Captain Dimitris Apesakis represented by Matthaios Apesakis of Mykonos Shipping, Ms. Marilly Karamolegkou of Sealestial Maritime and Mr. Kostas Psallidas of Anosis Maritime.
