The Region of Attica and the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA), on Monday, signed a cooperation agreement, aiming to ensure and protect the health of all visitors and employees at the port of Piraeus.
The cooperation agreement is based on the Greek Health Ministry’s guidelines on the sanitary requirements of Greece’s ports of entry and rules for cruiseships, which aim to combat the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
“Through this cooperation we aim to protect the safety of travelers when entering the first gateway of the country, and support the restart of cruise travel,” Attica Region Governor, George Patoulis, said.
It's worth to say that the agreement foresees the Region of Attika using three office rooms of the PPA (or OLP in Greek) as public health facilities to supervise cruise operations at the port as part of PPA’s measures against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The office rooms will include the required equipment on behalf of the PPA and scientific personnel to be brought in by the Region of Attica.
“This initiative, implemented in cooperation with the Region of Attica, once again confirms that our main concern was and remains to ensure and protect the health of all visitors and employees in the port of Piraeus,” PPA BoD Chairman, Yu Zenggang, said.
